Había una vez un caballo majestuoso, de naturaleza salvaje, que vivía libre con su manada en las verdes praderas. Este caballo, de pelaje negro reluciente y de ojos fieros y nobles, era conocido por su indomable espíritu y su amor por correr libre en la llanura verde .

Un día, un hombre llegó a la pradera buscando bellos y fuertes ejemplares para su rancho. Era un apasionado amante de los caballos y soñaba con convertir a un magnífico ejemplar en el corredor más rápido de todos los tiempos. Rápidamente ese magnífico caballo que corría sin parar por la verde pradera captó la atención del hombre, que no ahorró en recursos para poder capturar a tan hermoso ejemplar, veía en él un potencial campeón que debía ser sometido a su voluntad.

Capturado al fin y día tras día, el hombre intentaba domar al caballo, pero éste se resistía con tenacidad, demostrando una feroz determinación propia de un espíritu indomable. No aceptaba ni entendía las riendas ni las imposiciones humanas. A pesar de estar atrapado en el rancho y encerrado largas horas en un establo, el caballo anhelaba la libertad que había disfrutado tiempo atrás con su manada en las praderas.

El tiempo pasó, y el hombre seguía obstinado en su intento de domar al caballo. Cada día era una batalla de voluntades, pero ninguno cedía. El caballo se resistía a la doma con afianzada paciencia, esperando el momento en que finalmente pudiera ser libre de nuevo.

Tras haber pasado dos años, un buen día, el hombre se dio cuenta de que su rancho estaba al borde de la ruina. Había invertido casi todo su dinero y gran parte de su vida en intentar domar a un verdadero caballo campeón, pero nunca lo logró. Con desesperación, se acercó al implacable caballo y le hizo llorando una última oferta. Le prometió su libertad si corría en una sola carrera y la ganaba para él, proporcionándole así el dinero necesario para salvar el rancho.

El caballo, compasivo y deseoso de volver a correr en libertad, sin dudarlo aceptó la propuesta. Permitió que el hombre lo domara y entrenase para convertirlo así en un corredor de élite. El entrenamiento fue largo y arduo, pero el caballo lo soportó con gran determinación. El hombre no daba crédito a la fuerza y bravura de semejante ejemplar. Quedaba impresionado cada día de su adiestramiento y no se perdía ninguno.

Finalmente, llegó el día de la gran carrera en el hipódromo. Los mejores caballos del país habían acudido a la cita, era la carrera más importante de la temporada y el caballo estaba listo. El hombre estaba muy nervioso, ya que era su última oportunidad para salvar su rancho, había apostado sus últimos ahorros a su caballo ganador. Cuando se abrieron las puertas del cajón de salida, el caballo saltó como un rayo y galopó con una velocidad y gracia inigualables. Desde los primeros metros, tomó la delantera y dejó atrás a todos los demás competidores. Y ya, en la tercera vuelta, aventajaba al caballo perseguidor por 50 metros.

El hombre no podía creer lo que veía. Aquel bravo caballo estaba a punto de ganar fácilmente la carrera más importante de aquel año, y con ello, salvaría su rancho y su futuro. Pero mientras veía cómo el caballo cruzaba la línea de meta en primer lugar, una duda lo atormentaba: ¿Debería realmente liberar al caballo como había prometido? Le había hecho ganar una fortuna fácilmente, y podría hacerlo aún más inmensamente rico.

Finalmente, el hombre mantuvo su palabra y liberó al caballo. Se acercó a él y le agradeció sincera y profundamente haber salvado su rancho y su futuro. El caballo, mirándolo con sus ojos fieros y nobles, respondió con calma: «Si solo me lo hubieras pedido, lo habría hecho de igual manera. Trataste de imponerme tu voluntad quitándome mi libertad. Yo no necesito el dinero como tú, solo amo correr, y habría aceptado encantado en ayudarte desde un principio si me lo hubieras pedido. Pero decidiste privarme de mi libertad y forzarme a tu voluntad. Te agradezco que finalmente hayas respetado al menos tu palabra».

Así el caballo regresó a las verdes praderas a correr libremente con su manada, mientras el hombre, humilde y arrepentido, aprendió la valiosa lección.

Once upon a time, there was a majestic horse, wild by nature, who lived freely with his herd in the green meadows. This horse, with its shiny black coat and fierce, noble eyes, was known for its indomitable spirit and love for running freely in the open plain.

One day, a man arrived at the meadow in search of beautiful and strong specimens for his ranch. He was a passionate horse lover and dreamt of turning a magnificent horse into the fastest racer of all time. Quickly, the magnificent horse that ran tirelessly through the green meadow caught the man’s attention, and he spared no expense to capture such a beautiful specimen. He saw in him the potential champion that needed to be brought under his control.

Captured at last, day after day, the man tried to tame the horse, but it resisted with tenacity, displaying a fierce determination characteristic of an indomitable spirit. It did not accept or understand the reins or human impositions. Despite being trapped on the ranch and confined for long hours in a stable, the horse yearned for the freedom it had once enjoyed with its herd in the meadows.

Time passed, and the man remained determined in his attempt to tame the horse. Every day was a battle of wills, but neither yielded. The horse resisted training with unwavering patience, awaiting the moment when it could finally be free again.

After two years had passed, one fateful day, the man realized that his ranch was on the brink of ruin. He had invested nearly all his money and a significant portion of his life trying to tame a true champion horse, but he had never succeeded. Desperately, he approached the unyielding horse and made one last offer, tears in his eyes. He promised it freedom if it raced in a single competition and won it for him, providing the money needed to save the ranch.

The horse, compassionate and eager to run freely again, accepted the proposal without hesitation. It allowed the man to train and tame it to become an elite racer. The training was long and grueling, but the horse endured it with great determination. The man was astonished by the strength and bravery of such a specimen. He was impressed every day of its training and didn’t miss a single moment.

Finally, the day of the grand race at the racetrack arrived. The best horses in the country had gathered for the event, the most important race of the season, and the horse was ready. The man was incredibly nervous, as it was his last chance to save his ranch. He had bet his last savings on his winning horse. When the starting gate opened, the horse leaped like lightning and galloped with unmatched speed and grace. From the first meters, it took the lead and left all other competitors behind. By the third lap, it was 50 meters ahead of the closest pursuer.

The man couldn’t believe what he was witnessing. This brave horse was about to easily win the most important race of the year, saving his ranch and his future. But as he watched the horse cross the finish line in first place, doubt plagued him: Should he really set the horse free as he had promised? It had earned him a fortune easily, and he could become even richer.

In the end, the man kept his word and released the horse. He approached it and sincerely thanked it for saving his ranch and his future. The horse, looking at him with its fierce and noble eyes, responded calmly: «If only you had asked me, I would have done it the same way. You tried to impose your will on me by taking away my freedom. I don’t need money like you; I only love to run, and I would have gladly helped you from the beginning if you had asked. But you chose to deprive me of my freedom and force me to your will. I appreciate that you finally respected your word.»

And so, the horse returned to the green meadows to run freely with its herd, while the man, humble and repentant, learned a valuable lesson.
